About Us

                                                           Our Ohana (family):

Aloha!  My husband, Jay, and I, Gail, have been married for over 45 years.  We have three sons, Aaron, Jordan, and Caleb (he’s adopted) and a daughter, Emily (she’s adopted, too)  The three boys are all grown up now and live on their own.  Our daughter has stated college and moved into a dorm.  We have five grandchildren, three girls and two boys.  I’ve even added a fourth granddaughter as she actually adopted me so, without knowing it, she’s carrying on our family tradition.

History:

We all love to travel, and my husband has been cruising since he was a child.  So, upon his recommendations, on my first cruise with him (this was before we had kids), I packed and packed and packed.  He told me that we would be changing several times a day, especially for dinner.  We drove down and spent the night before in a hotel.  We were able to leave our car at the hotel for the week as they had a “cruise and stay” package.  The morning of the cruise, we took a taxi to the terminal.  We had so much luggage that the cab driver almost ran out of room!

When our room steward started bringing all of our luggage to our room, his first question was “How many of you will be here?”  We told him just the two of us. He asked us a couple more times; I guess he was hoping for a different answer.  That should have given me a hint of what was to come!  I needed only about a third of what we took.

Our next cruise we took our two sons (we hadn’t adopted our other children yet).  My husband had been wanting to take them sooner (they were 6 and 8 by then), but to be honest, it was me who kept them from going.  I was afraid that they would fall overboard!  (Please remember, I was new to cruising!)  We took them on several more cruises and provided them with walkie talkies.  It was odd, but every time we gave one to Jordan, it didn’t “work”.  But when we switched the “bad” one with Aaron, the one Jordan then got didn’t work either… Thank goodness they were always together, or within reaching distance.

We have taken Emily on a few cruises; she cried during her first cruise, but now she loves them. Unfortunately, Caleb hasn’t cruised with us yet as he has always been too busy working.  One of these days, we’d love to take the grandchildren!  Need to get them started early!

Today and Tomorrow:

JAGS Travels, the name I thought of, is an acronym for us, Jay And Gail’S Travels.  We should have thought of this years ago, especially as we both love Jaguars, the car, and have owned many of them for decades.  We have a love for cars, too, especially classics.  Jay’s “baby” is a 1931 Model A (original, not hot rodded)  But everyone has been telling us not to mix subjects, so for now, we’ll stick to cruising.  But one day we will add a page for cruising in our cars.

Jay has wanted for quite a while to do some filming and going online.  He has been adding quite a bit of equipment, gimbal, go pro, mics, etc. to what we already have, like my Nikon camera.  I’ve always loved photography, so I guess this is just the next step for us, keeping up with modern technology.  We hope that you enjoy our combined efforts to make this both enjoyable and informative.
